2021-2022 Housing Accommodation Requests for Current Students

Important notes:
  • This process only pertains to students who are requesting housing accommodations for the first time or who are requesting changes to their current housing accommodations. If you are already approved for housing accommodations and would like to keep those same accommodations for next year, no further action is needed (note that all students need to complete the general housing application through Residence Life).
  • The deadline for completing the steps below is Thursday, January 7. Requests will continue to be considered after this date, but there may be a delay in implementing accommodations.
  • Submitting a request for a housing accommodation does not guarantee that your request will be approved. Therefore, we encourage you to have a back-up plan (for example, consider what your plan would be if you request a single room as an accommodation but are not approved).
  • Please feel free to email with questions, noting that this inbox will not be monitored from December 17-January 5.
To request a housing accommodation due to the impact of a diagnosed condition, please follow the steps below.
  1. Submit a request through Accommodate. 
    a. If you are already registered with SAS but are requesting a new housing accommodation:         
         i. First, log into your student Accommodate Portal.
         ii. On the left, hover over the word/menu item “Accommodation”
         iii. Then select “Supplemental” from the Accommodation drop-down choices
         iv. You will see a green “Add New” button. Click that button and answer the questions as best            you can to request an additional accommodation.                                                                          
     b. If you are not currently registered with SAS and are requesting accommodations for the                 first time:                                                                                                                                                      
         i. Complete the Accommodate self-registration.
  2. Submit documentation of your diagnosed condition from a relevant medical or mental health professional.  The Provider Form is the preferred documentation, but other forms of documentation are accepted.  If you think you already have documentation on file that would support your requested accommodation, please email to inquire about this.  Documentation can be uploaded to Accommodate during step 1, emailed to, or faxed to 757-221-2538.
  3. SAS staff will schedule an appointment to discuss your request.  Once you have submitted your request and documentation, your file will be marked as complete and you will be added to the appointment list.  Student appointments will be scheduled in the order that their files are completed, and you will receive a notification to your William & Mary email with details once your appointment has been scheduled.  If you need to cancel a scheduled appointment, you may do so through the Accommodate portal and indicate in the comments whether you would like to reschedule. All scheduling is completed by SAS staff, not the student.
Students are welcome to submit housing accommodations and schedule an appointment after the January 7th deadline, however, it will be considered a late request. Late housing accommodations will be granted as space permits and as ADA accommodating locations become available.
