Prevention and Education Services

The Health Promotion staff provides a wide-range of educational, referral and outreach services for students who are concerned about wellness, disease prevention, and other health-related issues. Additionally, the Health Promotion coordinates or participates in many initiatives including the CARES Team (Collegiate Awareness Regarding Eating Smart), the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Task Force, and AlcoholEdu.

One-on-One Consultations

Health Promotion offers one-on-one consultations, a free service for all full-time students. If you're concerned about any health issue or about how to help a friend, contact OHP staff by [[sthlth, email]] or by calling (757) 221-3631.

Awareness Events

Health Promotion collaborates with many departments and student organizations on campus to present several awareness events during the school year. In the past these events have included Sleep Awareness Week, Red Flag Campaign, National Alcohol Screening Day, Sexual Assault Awareness Week, Alcohol Edu, de-stress events, Mental Health Screening Day, and Tribe Tropics Safe Spring Break Event.

Assessment & Evaluation

We regularly evaluate our programs by surveying the William & Mary student body.

In February, 2012 William & Mary students participated in the National College Health Assessment. This random-sample survey was completed by 1700 students - a return rate of 43%. The data provided by this survey guides the activities of Health Promotions. Want to learn more about the results? Contact us by [[sthlth, email]] or by calling (757) 221-2195.
