Dennis Kerwin was born in Montague, Michigan before moving to Greenville, South Carolina. Dennis was an active member of the Speech and Debate team, which lead to a passion of public speaking that carried into college at the University of South Carolina. While there, Dennis was a Resident Assistant for 3 years and a captain for the Mock Trial Team. Dennis graduated with a Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communications with a focus in Public Relations in 2014.
Dennis went on to receive his Masters in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University in 2016. During that time Dennis served as a Graduate Hall Director and a coach to the Mock Trial Team. Dennis took his first professional position at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia where he served as a Hall Director, overseeing Graduate Assistants and Resident Assistants in first-year student communities. While there, Dennis garnered a passion for recruitment and selection of staff working with Resident Assistant, Graduate Assistant, and Hall Director recruitment, training, and development.
Dennis came to William & Mary in January of 2020 and serves as the Assistant Director of Student Services. In this role Dennis reviews and triages and helps respond to care reports for the university and supports the keeping up of the advocate system and other technological databases. Dennis also currently serves as the Head Coach for the Mock Trial Team at W&M. In his spare time, Dennis enjoys board games, coffee, and escape rooms.
