For twenty years, the William & Mary Washington Center has served the W&M community with opportunities for students, faculty, staff and alumni. What started as a proposal for establishing a W&M presence in Washington, D.C. in 2000 became reality when our doors opened to the public on January 2, 2001. Since then, we have strived to be W&M's campus in the city for all in the W&M community.
As we approach 2021, we are preparing for the Center's 20th Anniversary and we are excited to continue engaging students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends. We welcome and encourage everyone to celebrate with us throughout 2021! There are many ways to interact with the Center through events, a video series, a memory collection initiative, social media and more. All of these opportunities are open to the whole W&M community. Everyone who donates in 2021 will receive an invitation to our 20th Anniversary Celebration in November 2021 with a commemorative pin!
Throughout 2021, the W&M Washington Center will be focusing on four pillars:
Celebrate with us virtually in 2021 with a year of events for the entire William & Mary community culminating with an in-person celebration on November 4th (if we are safely able to do so)!
Tune in each month as we release a collection of videos featuring former students, faculty, and staff in celebration of William & Mary’s campus in the city. The series is a chronological walk through the W&M Washington Center, starting with the beginning, through the present and looking forward to the future.

20th Anniversary Planning Committee
In the beginning of 2020, the Center asked a few alumni to join us and plan out what the 20th Anniversary could be. We want to thank our Planning Committee for their dedication and thoughtfulness as we met throughout the year to brainstorm and discuss ideas. Everyone has contributed to the planning of this anniversary and will continue to help the Center with its content throughout 2021.
