How Reports are Handled
Reports of sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct are processed under one of two procedures. The procedure used is determined by the identity of the person(s) accused of misconduct, the respondent, and whether that individual is a student or an employee. The identity of the respondent is important because grievance/complaint procedures may lead to disciplinary action, and the university's relationship with the respondent determines the nature of and process for discipline.
- Reports of sexual misconduct by a student are processed under the Student Discrimination & Title IX Complaint Procedure
- Reports of sexual misconduct by a faculty or staff member are processed under the Employee Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation Grievance/Complaint Procedure
