Current Initiatives
Our department has been working hard to bring the William & Mary community the very best in parking and transportation services. Check out some of our most recent initiatives below!
W&M Bike Alliance
Cycling has many benefits, including improving physical and mental health, fostering stronger community ties, boosting local economies, and providing cheap, clean transportation. Through the Bike Alliance, we seek to promote cycling in three broad steps:
- Upgrading the university’s bicycle infrastructure with covered storage, sufficient bike racks, bike lanes, fix-it stations, and shared-road signs;
- Establishing an educational course to teach bicycle maintenance, safety, and enjoyment;
- Investigating the feasibility of an on-campus rental program and bike shop.
As the program continues to grow, we will continue to foster the development of cycling at William & Mary. Learn more about this initiative here.
Carpool Parking Program
In order to promote sustainable driving practices and help make parking at the university a more cooperative and streamlined process, Parking & Transportation services has begun a carpool program for commuting faculty, staff, and students. Parking & Transportation Services now offers support for carpools through several measures and encourages all members of the William & Mary community to consider the financial and environmental benefits of establishing a carpool.
