If you are interested in teaching for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and have never taught with us before, please contact the office at (757) 221-1506.
Instructors Please Note:
Remember You Must Register for Classes You Would Like to Attend!
The course catalog is on our website homepage. As an instructor teaching a minimum of 6 hours of lecture, you are an honorary member during the semester you are teaching or the semester following. This gives you the privilege of a regular membership without paying the membership fee. Classes fill up quickly so we would suggest you register online as soon as possible when the registration period opens (late Nov. for spring and mid-July for fall). You may also register by mail - print out the registration form from the website, fill it out indicating honorary member if you are eligible, and mail it to us. Registrations are processed on a first come first served basis.
Do You Have an Outline for the Class You're Teaching?
Please provide your outline to the office for at least two weeks in advance of your class. All copies are sent offsite for reproduction so this lead time is very important.
Your presentation file may be posted on our website if you so choose. Please submit the file to us electronically, and please allow 4 business days for posting.
New Instructor Orientation
This orientation is for new instructors. The presentation will include some background information about Osher and how it is organized, how we are prepared to assist you with your teaching assignment, and important timelines you need to be aware of as the semester gets underway. You will have an opportunity to ask questions, meet our staff, the leaders of our curriculum groups, and other new and veteran instructors as well. Excellent instructors are a critical element of our widely admired program. We want your experience with us to be a good one, and we urge you to attend this important session. New Instructor Orientation is a few weeks before classes begin.
Instructors must become familiar with the equipment in their classroom. Training is scheduled two weeks before classes begin. The exact location and time will be emailed when that information is available.
Instructor Appreciation Reception
Watch for the date and time of our membership reception held each semester. There will be a short program and refreshments!
If you will be in the School of Ed, Wightman Cup Room, Andrews Hall, Ewell Hall, Small Hall, Swem Library, Morton Hall or the Integrated Science Center you will need a W&M parking hangtag. You can get a W&M parking hangtag that is good for the whole semester by going to W&M Parking Services at 201 Ukrop Way or by completing a parking registration form here.
