Originally from the Buffalo, New York area, I was a child of a military family and we moved around while I was growing up. Eventually we were stationed in Norfolk, Virginia where I completed high school before heading to Williamsburg to attend the College. I received my BA from William & Mary in 1995 and it was during my time as an undergrad that I was introduced to the world of Conference Services.
Since then, my full time career focus has been in the hospitality industry, conferences, and events. I’ve been a wedding coordinator, worked in hotel catering sales, and hotel conference sales and marketing as well as collegiate conference and event management. As an active member of the Association of Conference and Event Directors International, I earned my CCEP certification in 2002.
I believe in lifelong learning, teamwork, and importance of building and serving within your community – both personally and professionally.
I graduated from William & Mary with a BA in English and a license to teach English at the secondary education level. Though I’ve never formally taught English in a classroom in the U.S. (outside of student teaching requirements), I’ve enjoyed the opportunities to teach English classes overseas on short term teams that were part of humanitarian aid organizations.
I love to travel to all sorts of places, but one of my most favorite places to spend time is the desert. Whether it’s the expanse of open terrain in Arizona or Africa, there’s a strange yet serene beauty, energy, memory, and magic that seems to come alive to me in those places. Though it seems an oxymoron, I find it quite refreshing and rejuvenating.
