Prior to coming to William & Mary, I served as a high school English teacher and department chair. I taught for Newport News Public Schools and for Virtual Virginia, the state supported secondary online program from the Virginia Department of Education. My expertise is in online and blended pedagogy, course design, curriculum development, equity pedagogy, and teacher professional development. I’ve worked as a curriculum reviewer, an education analyst, an instructional designer, and an adjunct instructor of educational technology. I have a BA in English from Virginia Tech, an MA in Culture & Communication from the University of East Anglia (England), and an EdD in Educational Policy, Planning and Leadership from William & Mary.
My favorite types of projects include creating authentic learning experiences that live beyond the walls of a classroom, designing online and blended courses, providing professional development opportunities for educators, and finding new ways to make learning engaging, fun, open, and accessible. I am a proud Hampton Roads native and a first-generation college graduate. I enjoy riding in boats, sitting in sand, and cracking crabs (heavy on the Old Bay).
