The William and Mary women's swimming team added two more school records to its week-long total on Saturday night, finishing the Colonial Athletic Association Championships strong with a third-place finish. The Tribe scored 585 points, fourth-most ever, and finished behind only Towson (720) and James Madison (640). If you counted only swimming scores, W&M was second overall behind only three-time defending champion Towson (629).
1650 FreeOpening the session in the 1650 free, sophomore
Selina Fuller (Henrico, Va.) cut more than 14 seconds off of her lifetime-best and dropped below 17 minutes for the first time, finishing third overall in 16:47.54. That was the third-fastest mile in school history, and ranks fuller second all-time among Tribe athletes. Her 1,000-yard split of 10:10.81 was another lifetime-best, and also the third-fastest ever at W&M. Junior
Hannah Vester (Cincinnati, Ohio) capped of her season with a fifth-place showing, stopping the clock in 16:53.51. That was the ninth-fastest time in school history, and moves Vester up to third all-time among athletes. Her 1,000-yard split of 10:12.35 was the seventh-fastest ever swum, and Vester ranks fourth in school history in that event.
200 BackIn the 200 back, sophomore
Sophie Rittenhouse (London, England) earned the bronze medal in 1:58.40, the fifth-fastest time in school history, and Fuller made the quick turn-around to take eighth overall in 2:03.26. Freshman
Emma Merrill (Fairfax, Va.) stopped the clock in 2:01.16 for 13th place, and junior
Noelle Klockner (Marlboro, N.J.) cruised to a 16th-place 2:02.92.

Jaimie Miller (Houston, Texas) crushed her lifetime-best in the 100 free and earned her first NCAA qualifier, finishing second in 49.72 seconds. An improvement of .36 over her prelims performance, Miller's time was the 16th-fastest race in school history and ranks her third all-time among athletes. Senior
Megan Howard (McLean, Va.) finished seventh in the championship heat at 51.04, and junior
Sara Schad (North Yarmouth, Maine) took 14th overall in 51.52 seconds.
200 BreastThe Tribe's oldest standing school record was matched in the 200 breast, as sophomore
Allie Christy (Williamsburg, Va.) finished fourth overall in 2:15.79, another .36 second improvement on her lifetime-best. That matches the time put up by Hall of Famer
Ruth Anne Miller '03 back in 2002, and qualifies Christy provisionally for the NCAA Championships. Junior
Jenny Lomicka (Henrico, Va.) also had a big time drop from prelims, improving .74 seconds to finish 11th in 2:19.15, and freshman
Shannon Harrington (Philadelphia, Pa.) was 15th in 2:20.89.
200 FlyThe second school record of the night came in the 200 fly, where junior
Jessie Ustjanauskas (West Hartford, Conn.) finished second overall in 2:00.16 to break the mark held by
Erin Welshofer '10 (2:00.27 in 2009). Freshman
Abby Mack (Wayne, Pa.) was right behind her in third place, and broke her own freshman record with a time of 2:00.95, improving .41 from the morning prelims. Classmate
Rachel Anderson (Clifton, Va.) was 12th overall, stopping the clock in 2:05.33.
400 Free RelayThe Green and Gold closed out the championships with a fourth-place finish in the 400 free relay, swimming the course in 3:23.21, the fourth-fastest time in school history. Senior
Megan Howard led off with a 50.75 to close out her great career, and put the team in third as she handed off to
Jaimie Miller. Miller had an outstanding split of 49.73, third-best in the entire race, and then gave way to the freshman Mack who cleared her leg in 51.44. Junior
Sara Schad brought the Tribe home in 51.29 to complete the race, holding off a host of challengers to earn fourth place.
