Sadler Site Incident

The following Emergency Alert System messages were sent to the campus community Dec. 8, 2021 related to the investigation of a bomb threat on campus found to be unfounded. - Ed.

Sadler Center Incident - Update 2

W&M Police has released the buildings around the Sadler Center construction to be reopened following an investigation into a report this morning of a bomb threat. The area has been swept by bomb dogs with Virginia State Police and Newport News Police, and the report has been determined to be unfounded. While the incident is still under investigation, a person of interest has been identified and interviewed.

Students should use Commons and Marketplace for lunch.

Sadler Center Incident - Follow Up

TribeAlert: As a precaution, the Sadler Center, McLeod Tyler Wellness Center, Cohen Career Center and Aromas Daily Grind have been evacuated while campus authorities look into a safety concern reported at the Sadler Center construction site. There is no imminent threat to campus, but please avoid the area. We will update the campus when those locations reopen. The siren you may have heard around 11:15 a.m. is not related. That was a test of the Surry siren.
