Clery Act Compliance

Annual Campus Security & Fire Safety Compliance

William & Mary is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for the entire campus community. In compliance with The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act ("Clery Act"), the university maintains information about campus security policies, crime statistics and mandatory reporting obligations by Campus Security Authorities on this site.

Additionally, the university publishes an Annual Security and Fire Safety report to provide transparency in the number and types of crimes under the Clery Act that occurred on campus or on property adjacent to campus within the last three years. This report includes crime statistics for William & Mary campuses in Williamsburg, Eastern Shore, Gloucester, Newport News and Washington D.C. The Annual Security & Fire Safety report also provides policies relating to fire risks in the residence halls, including policies against portable electrical heaters, smoking and open flames. Data on the number of fires that occurred in the residence halls in the previous three years and a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year is provided for each residence hall
