Travel for Transformation and Social Justice Project

Primary Investigators: [[kejenk, Kathleen Jenkins]] and [[jnsass, Jackson Sasser]]
Summary: The development of a local pilgrimage trail focused on sites of memory related to racial justice

Project Details

This project with the Social Justice Policy Initiative and the Institute for Pilgrimage Studies at W&M explores potential sites of memory and how pilgrimage to these spaces invites reflection on events that drive racial injustice. Student fellows have investigated sites and accompanying historical voices related to neighborhood dispossession, education and justice, law and courts, and religion. Project goals include the development of creative practices at these sites, the construction of a pilgrimage app, and the development and identification of digital information to share with teachers, students, and the wider community.
