Professors Jennifer Bickham-Mendez, Monika Gosin, and Amy Quark are collaborating in a community-engaged project. This research group supports The Village Initiative's evidence-based advocacy in the WJCC School District.
This project has three parts:
- We seek to understand the diverse forms of political engagement. How does this effect educational policy-making and policy outcomes?
- We help community members document their own stories of school integration by taking their oral histories. We will bring their stories together in an edited collection. These stories have implications for educational equity today.
- We work with The Village Initiative to produce their annual Equity Report. This report will be presented to the community and school district.
