International Students

The National Institute of American History & Democracy is proud to accept students into the Pre-College Summer Program from all over the world.

We understand that international students face unique challenges when applying to programs in the U.S. With the help of W&M’s Reves Center for International Studies, NIAHD will work directly with students to help guide them through admission, immigration, and registration.*

The information provided in the menu links is intended for non-U.S. citizens applying to – or who have already been accepted to – NIAHD’s Pre-College Program in American History.  Anyone who is already a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident not requiring a visa should refer to the main Pre-College Program pages for information about applying, costs, and registration.

*On 2/26/2021, NIAHD decided to transition History 211 from residential to virtual. Both classes offered in the Pre-College Program in American History for the Summer of 2021 will be online, live, and synchronous. No additional fees or immigration documentation is required for non-U.S. citizens applying to the Pre-College Program. Please email for any questions you may have about this change.
