Application Procedures

Students at William & Mary

Regularly enrolled students at William & Mary may enroll in the Program in Material Culture & Public History at any point in their academic career by filling out the Student Information Form available HERE (pdf). This form may be submitted by campus or U.S. mail to: Director, National Institute of American History & Democracy, P.O. Box 8795, William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA 23187-8795. Student Information Forms from William & Mary Students are accepted anytime during the academic year.

Students from Other Colleges and Universities

Visiting students from other colleges and universities should submit a completed Application Form (pdf), transcripts of all college-level work, and at least one letter of recommendation to the Director, National Institute of American History & Democracy, P.O. Box 8795, William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA 23187-8795.

Students who wish to claim Virginia residency for tuition purposes must also complete a Virginia Domicile Form (pdf). That form should be included along with the application form. These instructions apply to all students who wish to be considered for in-state tuition privileges no matter what their status at their home institution may be.
