The Ewell Concert Series Presents Trefoil

Trefoil“Trefoil re-creates the exotic and mysterious world of late 14th-century French music … Each work is a gem … (Early Music America Magazine, 2006). Widely celebrated in the world of Early Music, Trefoil is a trio of singer-instrumentalists. The ensemble—Drew Minter (countertenor, harp, and percussion), Mark Rimple (countertenor, lute, psaltery, and harp), and Marcia Young (soprano and harp)— debuted in New York and Philadelphia in 2000 with a program of 14th-century French ars subtilior song, “an intricate, enigmatic vocal art” (Philadelphia Inquirer). Trefoil has performed with the Concert Royal, Les Arts Florissants, and the Folger Consort, and has appeared at such venues as The Cloisters , the 2009 Boston Early Music Fringe Festival, the New York Early Music Celebration, and New York’s Bargemusic series.

This performance is co-sponsored by the Reves Center for International Studies.

Due to illness, countertenor Drew Minter will be unable to perform in the Trefoil concert on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Bruton Parish Church at 8pm. However, Mark Rimple and Marcia Young of Trefoil will present a duo concert instead.
