Diane Rehm show features King's new book

Barbara King has a new book coming out and is busy with interviews with national media. She is scheduled to discuss Being With Animals on the Diane Rehm Show, the radio talk show distributed nationally and internationally by National Public Radio. Being With Animals book cover

King will appear live with Rehm on Thursday, Jan., 28, at 11 a.m., in the show’s second hour. She will be interviewed by the host in the Washington, D.C. studios of WAMU, then take questions from the listening audience.

After her live radio appearance, King is scheduled for a taped interview for the National Geographic Weekend radio show, another syndicated program broadcast on more than 140 commercial stations across the nation, along with XM Sirius radio. Air date of her segment on the show is not yet scheduled.

King is Chancellor Professor of Anthropology at William & Mary. Her new book carries the full title Being with Animals: Why We Are Obsessed with the Furry, Scaly, Feathered Creatures Who Populate Our World. Published by Doubleday, the book went on sale Jan. 26. In the book, King examines the complex relationship between humans and our fellow creatures on earth. “Our species, Homo sapiens, became human by being with animals,” she writes.

King also appeared on the Jeff Farias Show on Jan. 25 and is scheduled for an interview with the BBC.
