2015 Excellence in NSCI Awards go to Monika Stanciauskas & Jacob Daniels

The Neuroscience Program is pleased to announce that Monika Stanciauskas and Jacob Daniels received the 2015 Excellence in Neuroscience awards. In addition to outstanding academic performance and in research contributions, these students exhibited enthusiasm, dedication and other qualities indicating that he or she is likely to be a good ambassador for the field of neuroscience.

Ms. Stanciauskas is co-author on a manuscript and has received two summer fellowships. She has presented her research at multiple conferences. She has accomplished all of this while being on the W&M Volleyball team, where she was on the Colonial Athletic Association All-America Team in 2014 and has received the Provost’s Award for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher every year since 2011. She is also a Golden Key Honors Society member. She is in the process of completing an honors project with Professor Margaret Saha. Ms. Stanciauskas will begin a doctoral program in Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
The recipients will be recognized at the Evening of Excellence on April 21 and at the Neuroscience Graduation reception.Mr. Daniels worked in Dr. Pamela Hunt’s and Dr. Lisa Landino’s laboratories. He has presented his research at multiple conferences. He completed a Monroe summer research project and is in the process of completing an honors thesis. He has been a member of the Dean’s list since fall 2011 and has been elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Daniels will attend the Pharmacology program at Columbia University.
