For First-Year Monroes

All incoming first-years are considered for admittance to the program by the Undergraduate Admission Office--no additional application is required. Students selected usually graduate in the highest range of their high school classes and if test scores are submitted, standardized tests scores are in the top five percent nationally. Other selection criteria include intellectual depth, curiosity, concern for community, and a demonstrated devotion to learning for learning's sake.

There are many benefits for incoming first-year who are selected as Monroe Scholars, including special interest housing, priority registration for two classes (COLL 150 and one other) for their first semester on campus, and eligibility to apply for a summer research project grant.
