Research at the Jack Borgenicht Hypoxia/Altitude Facility has focused primarily on physiologic adjustments to acute hypoxia/altitude exposure. Rapid ascent to altitude or exposure to hypoxic conditions can result in in adverse physiologic responses including dizziness, headaches, vomiting, and fatigue known as acute mountain sickness (AMS).
