Fredrika J. Teute received her PhD from Johns Hopkins in 1988. Her fields are the frontier and early national U.S. Her dissertation was entitled "Land, Liberty and Labor in the Post-Revolutionary Era: Kentucky as the Promised Land". She has co-edited Contact Points: American Frontiers from the Mohawk Valley to the Mississippi, 1750-1830 published in 1998 and Through a Glass Darkly: Reflections on Personal Identity in Early America published in 1997, both by the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture.
