Background

Dr. Kim holds a Ph.D. in International Studies from the University of Washington and is passionate about teaching and researching the current politics of authoritarian regimes, in Russia and the post-soviet region. She works on themes related to authoritarian institutions, state repression, and social movements, broadly speaking to the field of comparative politics and political economy. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, she received M.A. from Seoul National University, majoring in International Relations, with a regional specialization in Post-Socialist nations. She was a visiting scholar at Higher School of Economics (HSE), Moscow, Russia in 2017.
