Private donations to the Arts & Sciences Annual Fund are solicited to help extend the best of William & Mary to every student and faculty member. Grants from the Arts & Sciences Annual Fund:
- Support the academic mission in keeping with our scholar/teacher model
- Prioritize one-time funding for extraordinary projects
- Support risk, creativity, and unexpected outcomes
Successful applicants are expected to provide some documentation of their projects. This material forms the basis for Annual Fund stories that encourage further private giving.
Note: For academic year 2020-21, mission-critical projects funded through the Annual Fund will include (a) research by pre-tenure faculty, ideally but not necessarily involving students or improving students' academic experience in some way and (b) projects that advance A&S diversity priorities.
The Dean’s Office will work with you and your home department/program administrator to process all expenses related to this funding, including the index to be charged, the financial documents required for backup, and the transaction description to be used to ensure proper tracking.
A&S faculty and staff members are invited to submit a proposal for funding using the form provided.
The Dean's Office reviews proposals twice monthly through November (for the Fall semester) and April (for the Spring semester). Applicants are notified of funding decisions by email.
