Meghan Revelle Wins Awards

Meghan RevelleGraduate sudent Meghan Revelle was selected as a finalist for the 2008 Google Anita Borg Scholarship. The scholarship is open to female undergraduates and graduate students in computer science, computer engineering, and related fields. Recipients are chosen based on the strength of the candidate's academic background and demonstrated leadership. The scholarship award is a cash prize and an invitation to the Google Scholars Retreat in San Francisco and at Google headquarters in Mountain View, CA which she attended from April 3-5, 2008.

The other award Meghan recently received was Honorable Mention for the Award for Excellence in Scholarship in the Natural and Computational Sciences at the 7th Annual Graduate Research Symposium of the College of William and Mary. To be eligible, you had to present at the Symposium and also write a 10 page paper. The papers were judged by a panel of W&M faculty and experts. Her paper was titled How to Find a Needle in a Digital Haystack. The award is a cash prize. Finally, this academic year, Meghan has a Graduate Research Fellowship from the Virginia Space Grant Consortium, and the fellowship has been renewed for the 2008-2009 school year. The Graduate Research Fellowship provides add-on graduate support for students enrolled at a Virginia Space Grant university (W&M, UVA, VA Tech, Hampton, ODU) pursuing any field of graduate study with aerospace relevance.
