The J. Edward Grimsley Fellowship for Journalism

This fellowship was created to allow William and Mary undergraduate students to gain practical journalism experience during the summer.  Mr. Grimsley graduated from the College in 1951 with a degree in Government. Now retired, he is the former editor of the Richmond Times Dispatch and has won numerous awards from the Virginia Press Association. 

The Charles Center will award one $3,000 fellowship to a student doing an unpaid summer internship in journalism.

Requirements
  • Must dedicate a minimum of seven full-time weeks to the internship
  • Must not receive funding from other sources
  • Must be a continuing undergraduate student (i.e., not a graduating senior)
  • Applicants are responsible for securing their own internships
