About The Taft Museum of Art

The Taft Museum of Art is one of the finest small art museums in America. Housed in part in a National Historic Landmark built in 1820, the Taft is home to a choice art collection that includes European and American master paintings, Chinese porcelains, and European decorative arts. See major works by Rembrandt, Hals, Goya, Gainsborough, Reynolds, Turner, Ingres, Whistler, and Sargent, as well as the greatest Gothic ivory sculpture in America.

Interpretation Internship:

The Curatorial and Learning & Engagement departments seek an intern to assist with research for a permanent collection reinterpretation project. Work alongside curators and educators to learn how research turns into interpretative content enjoyed by visitors. This internship will provide a student with great research and writing skills the opportunity to gain experience in a professional museum setting. The intern can expect to learn how a museum operates, make meaningful professional contacts, and contribute to an important project that will affect the visitor experience.

Qualifications:
  • Art History and History majors will be given preference
  • Interest in curatorial and education museum work
  • Demonstrated research experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to following through on projects and responsibilities
  • Eagerness to explore the Museum, its collections, and its community
  • Enthusiasm about integrating into the Taft Museum team
