Each year the Charles Center hosts several events that showcase student research at William & Mary. These events are open to the community, and we hope you will attend and see the exciting work W&M students are doing!
- Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium: The annual Fall Symposium highlights the rigorous, multi-disciplinary research W&M students conduct, including freshmen Monroe Scholars. The Fall Symposium is scheduled for October 25, 2019 in Swem Library.
- Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium:
UPDATE: All events of the Spring Undergraduate Research Week will be transitioned to a virtual event, postponed, or canceled. We will update with more information as it becomes available.
The Spring Symposium is open to any W&M undergraduate student who has conducted research over the past year. Each spring participants present posters or slideshows in the Integrated Science Center. The next Symposium will be held on April 3, 2020. In past years this event was only open to students in math and sciences, but in 2020 will be open to students from all academic disciplines.
- Catron Scholars Exhibition and Reception: This event allows recipients of the Catron Scholarship for Artistic Development to display their artistic endeavors and present their work.
In addition to these research presentation events, the Charles Center also sponsors the William & Mary Global Film Festival. The festival is held each February and features screenings of international and student-produced films, live performances, guest filmmaker presentations, and a reception. Bringing together movie-lovers on campus and in the Williamsburg community, the presentations and film screenings are held in the historic Kimball Theatre in Merchants Square.
