Art Pop-ups

In anticipation of the Arts Quarter, W&M's Arts Visioning Committee is sponsoring a series of pop-up art experiences.

What's a pop-up art experience?

Pop-ups are short, unexpected, participatory experiences or performances that take place around campus. Pop-ups can be done by a class, student organization, creative-minded individuals or teams of individuals.

They enable members of our campus community, including passers-by, to engage with the arts in unexpected ways and in unexpected places for brief but memorable periods of time.

We hesitate to provide examples because we don't want to limit your thinking.

When will these take place?

Pop-ups will be clustered around a series of dates in the spring 2022 semester:

  • Thursday, April 6- Sunday, April 10 (Ampersand International Arts Festival)
  • Tuesday, April 12 (One Tribe One Day)
  • Thursday, April 21-Friday, April 22 (Council of Arts & Sciences)
I have an idea, but it costs $$

If your idea is selected, generous funding from the Sumner G. Rand Jr. Foundation will support any expenses you will incur. Even better, proposing a pop-up also makes you eligible to apply for additional funding to support ANY arts-related activity.
