Keith Anderson

Biography

The American Indian Resource Center is delighted to have Keith Anderson (Nansemond Indian Nation) join the AIRC as the Outreach Coordinator for the Center. Keith is also serving his tribe as the assistant chief for the Nansemond Indian Nation and as the tribe's environmental project director.  Keith has committed his life to honoring the enduring traditions of American Indians across the United States and is a community leader who is “forged by tradition and thrives in the modern world.” 

Keith is an accomplished Native dancer who is well-known for participating at powwows, including those at William & Mary.  With a core group of extended family members, Keith co-founded Red Crook-ed Sky American Indian Dance Troupe in the fall of 2006. Under his guidance as executive director, the organization has performed at over 180 venues across the United States and Canada, including appearances the John F. Kennedy Center, Children's Museum of Indianapolis, and Georgia Southern University.  Strengthening their reputation as dynamic presenters, Keith and the troupe have been featured in a variety of publications, art works, documentaries, and film projects.  

In addition to his performing arts background, Keith is a graduate of the University of Richmond and earned his B.A. degree in Health Administration. While at U of R, Keith was both an offensive and defensive lineman for the football team. Overall, Keith's professional career touts over 25 years of cultural arts, fitness, and special event management experience.
