Why W&M?

My college decision was one of the toughest I have faced in my young life. Ultimately, I chose William & Mary because I wanted to be a Murray Scholar, to have access to a unique wealth of opportunity and attention, which I would have had to wrestle for at any other Ivy League caliber school. A guaranteed remarkable undergraduate experience was waiting for me right here in Williamsburg. But beyond all of the given intimate advantages of being a Murray Scholar, I have also gained an even more priceless benefit from the program: the realization of how spectacular this college itself is, based upon the multitude of opportunities and close-knit community that have fostered my combined passions for medicine and service. The Murray Scholars program really changes lives. Not just the lives of those of us lucky enough to be chosen for the program, but also the lives of those we then touch through our experiences at William & Mary. I will be forever indebted to the Murrays in making all of this possible; they believed that a program like this was important at William & Mary. That belief will result in students like me attending here, being transformed by their experiences, and then taking that out into the world, where we can work to make a difference--in my case, one patient at a time.

Where am I now?

I continue to charge ahead with my medical career, obtaining a residency "match" in ear, nose and throat medicine at the University of Kansas in Kansas City. I was a leader in my medical school class at University of Virginia, and I have recently been awarded several honors, including a scholarship from the Vietnamese American Medical Association. I was a visiting medical student in Singapore in 2012, and have been written up several times for my leadership and charitable work.
