William & Mary uses the CSS Profile and FAFSA for Early Decision Financial Aid Estimates. Our school code for the CSS Profile is 5115 and our school code for the FAFSA is 003705. Make sure that you select "Fall 2020/Spring 2021" for both the FAFSA and CSS Profile (as the prior academic year applications will still be available for submission). The CSS Profile does have a cost associated with each profile that is submitted. If you are eligible, the College Board will offer a fee waiver to applicants that meet certain criteria. W&M does not provide CSS Profile fee waivers.
We will not require the CSS Non-Custodial Parent Profile (Household B) at this time.
We encourage you to set aside time (approximately one to three hours) for collecting and organizing your financial information and completing the Profile and the FAFSA. We strongly encourage the use of the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing the FAFSA. For the FAFSA you will want to make sure you set up a User ID and password for both the student and the parents. You can create a new FSA User ID and password.
Early Decision I:
Our priority filing deadline for the CSS Profile and FAFSA is 11/15, with a final date of 12/13. You will be able to submit the CSS Profile and the FAFSA after this date, but we may not be able to complete the review and create the aid estimate before William & Mary closes for Winter break in December.
Early Decision II:
Our priority filing deadline for the CSS Profile and FAFSA is 1/15, with a final date of 3/1. You will be able to submit the CSS Profile and the FAFSA after the priority date, but it may impact our ability to finalize your award before the deposit deadline for Admission.
The College Board has information on the process of completing the CSS Profile and if you have questions you can contact them at 1-844-202-0524. If you have problems with the FAFSA or setting up the FSA User ID and password you will need to contact FAFSA at 1-800-433-3243.
The Office of Admission will email Early Decision I letters in early December and Early Decision II letters in early February. The Office of Financial Aid will begin emailing financial aid estimates in mid-December and mid-February.
Please note that we provide only an ESTIMATE of your financial aid at this time. Your financial aid will be created using the best estimates we have for cost. Once we have finalized figures from The Board of Visitors we will make any necessary adjustments. The Board will meet to finalize the figures and cost in April. It is our goal to use the best information available when creating these estimated awards and in doing so that no future adjustments will be made. If we have to make adjustments to the financial aid awards, we will send out revised awards notifications to the student.
Please note that notices of awards and revisions will be sent to the students only. It is important to have them check not only the e-mail provided on the Common or Coalition Application but their assigned William & Mary e-mail as well.
