I hope you all enjoyed a happy and healthy Thanksgiving break in preparation for the last few weeks of the academic year and final exam period. With respect to a hectic day for many, I will get straight to the message.
Here are the Top 5 Things to Know:
- The Undergraduate Honor Council is looking for nominations for students to join the Council for the 2023-24 term. They are asking faculty to fill out this form by Jan. 18, 2023, for Council member consideration. More specifically, the Council is looking for “students who possess the qualities for effective service, including sound judgment, maturity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.”
- William & Mary clinched the 2022 CAA Championship with a win at Richmond on November 19, and will host a second-round NCAA FCS playoff game this Saturday, December 3, at 2 p.m. at Zable Stadium. The fifth-seeded Tribe will play Gardner-Webb. Faculty and staff can purchase tickets for just $10 from the William & Mary Athletics website with code TRIBESTAFF. I look forward to cheering on our team!
- Please be aware that students are submitting any requests for accommodation to Student Accessibility Services through Dec. 5. You’ll receive notifications this week with appointment information and exam upload requirements. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact testing@wm.edu or call (757) 221-2512.
- STLI and the Writing Resources Center are supporting Tribe Innovation for a design thinking session to support emerging student writers in the classroom, this Friday in the Ford Classroom at Swem Library from 12-1:30 p.m. Faculty participants are still needed for the event. If you’re interested, please fill out this form to reserve a space. Those who do so before close of business tomorrow will receive lunch. Opportunities like this in developing strong writing skills help set up our students for success.
- The shout-out for this week goes to the Health & Wellness Office. I am proud of the efforts made to prioritize wellness support in response to our community's expressed needs, particularly in regard to recent tragedies and ongoing challenges related to the pandemic’s effects on mental health. I greatly appreciate the work done to continuously deepen the impact of those efforts.
