Visiting Assistant Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures

About

Sowmya Ramanathan, Visiting Assistant Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures, obtained her Ph.D. in Spanish and Portuguese from Princeton University. Previously she taught at Princeton University, Barnard College, and the Universidad Diego Portales. Her research focus is twentieth- and twenty-first-century Latin American literature and culture, working at the intersections of avant-garde, gender, sexuality, and affect studies. In addition to her current manuscript-in-progress, Textures of the Sensible: Reading Affect in Diamela Eltit, she studies women writers in Latin America, transnational feminism and political resistance, and the relationship between literature, media, and contemporary technologies.
