Ahmed Meiloud

Visiting Assistant Professor of Arabic Studies


Ahmed Meiloud, Visiting Assistant Professor of Arabic Studies, earned his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies (with a focus in Islamic Studies and a minor in Anthropology) from the University of Arizona. Professor Meiloud’s research focuses on the interplay between secular and Islamist worldviews in the Arab world and its impact on political discourses. Theoretically, his research draws on Postcolonial Studies, Discourse Analysis and Social Movement Theories. His teaching assignments will initially include courses in Arabic language at the elementary and intermediate levels, and in the future may include topics in which he has developed a record of instruction, such as: Islamic Thought and Movements, History of the Modern Middle East, and Topics in Islamic Cultural Studies.
