Vanessa Brutsche

Visiting Assistant Professor in French Studies


Vanessa Brutsche, Visiting Assistant Professor in French Studies, was awarded a Ph.D. in French with a designated emphasis in Film and Media from University of California, Berkeley. In 2017 she received the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award and Teaching Effectiveness Award.  She is currently working on revising her dissertation as a book project and focusing on a set of films that operate at the intersection of la mode rétro and the “true crime” genre. Her research and teaching are informed by an interdisciplinary training that includes visual culture and media studies, Holocaust and memory studies, the spatial humanities, and urban studies.
