Dr. Virginia Wells

Chief Medical Officer, Sports Medicine and Staff Physician, Student Health Center

About: Dr. Virginia Wells' specialties include internal medicine and infectious diseases. She received her bachelor's degree in biology from Austin College and her M.D. from University of Texas Medical Branch. Prior to coming to William & Mary she served as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Hospital Epidemiologist at the Medical College of Virginia (VCU). As Medical Director of W&M's Student Health Center for 11 years, she managed a staff of 26 employees and implemented nutritional services, expanded mental health services, modified employee duties to improve efficiency of operations and expanded clinic hours to meet the needs of graduate students and athletes with challenging schedules. Dr. Wells has practiced internal medicine for 10 years in the Williamsburg Community, and she still provides infectious disease consultation for medical colleagues in the community.
