W&M in Washington Program

Spring 2009 Applications will open September 2, 2008.

 

 


The W&M in Washington Program is open to students in all majors and disciplines. 
Course and semester themes are designed to reach the largest number of students. 

Future themes include:

•    "War, Memory, and the Holocaust"
•    "Then and Now: Major Themes in African American Literature & Culture"
•    "International Human Rights" (tentative)


How does the program work?

Academics
•    Students earn 12 credits from two 4-credit classes and the work associated with their internship
•    Classes are taught by W&M Professors
•    Classes are held at the W&M Washington Office in Dupont Circle

Internships
•    Students spend 30-35 hours per week at their internships
•    Mission of the internship locations will sync with the semester’s theme
•    Reinforces lessons learned in the classroom with real world experience

Housing
•    Students live in group apartments in The Buchanan
•    Located only 3 metro stops outside of the city in Arlington, VA
•    Safe and secure housing complex, complete with fitness center and large common rooms
