Dad Vails

Friday-Saturday, May 11-12:

Four boats and a handfull of other team members travelled to Philadelphia for one of the largest regattas on the east coast. It was a tough set of races but both the Women's Novice 4+ and the Women's Varsity 4+ made it to semi-finals. The Men's Novice 4+, unfortunately, did not make it out of heats but rowed a spectacular race none the less. The Men's Lightweight $+ made history by coming in 3rd in Finals as it was the first time in club history that a men's boat placed at a major regatta. Congrats to all that participated and way to end the season on a fantastic note! Full results of the regatta can be seen here.

Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Crew Championships

Sunday, May 6:

MACCC's was a spectacular end of the season race. The Women's Varsity 8+ placed first in their event beating both Virginia Tech and VCU. The Women's Novice 8+, the Women's Varsity 4+ and the Men's Novice 4+ took 2nd in their events over crews such as Penn State, American University and Susquehanna University. The Men's Lightweight 4+ took third and the Men's Varsity 8+ walked away in 5th. Good work to the varsity men who rowed three races that day! Full results can be seen on Row2k's website.

The team traveled to Philadelphia to compete in the Colonial Conference Championships. In points, the Tribe took 4th at the race, and all the races were extremely close. Most noteably the Women's Varsity 4+ took second by just 8 seconds. The Women's Novice 8+ also took second, behind Delaware. Full results can be seen here.

Occoquan Sprints

Sunday, April 1:

Way to go Tribe! Though some boats experienced stiff competition all boats rowed well and put up a good fight. Speical congratulations are in order for the Women's Novice 8+ who took second in Grand Finals and for the Women's Varsity 8+ who took second in Petite Finals. Once again, good job to all the boats!

Virginia Tech Duel

Saturday, March 24th:

Once again Tribe rowers have brought home the cup in the annual duel against Virginia Tech. The women's team had a particularly good showing in that none of their boats lost. The Women's Novice Four and Women's Varsity Eight won their races, and the Women's Novice Eight beat Virginia Tech's Varsity Light Weight boat. The men's team also put up a good fight with the Lightweight Four and Varsity Eight both winning thier races. Way to go Tribe!

Augusta Invitational

Saturday, March 17th:

Congratulations are in order for every boat that raced! After a hard week of two-a-day practices the team made a stellar appearance at the Augusta Invitational at Langley Pond in Aiken, South Carolina. All six boats that entered into the races placed and walked away with medals. The Women's Varsity Eight, the Women's Varsity Four and the Men's Lightweight Four all took first in their races. The Men's Novice Eight, the Women's Varsity Four and the Men's Varsity Four all took third in their races. Unfortunately, William and Mary was just two points shy of winning the overall championship. None the less it was an amazing trip and a great way to start of the spring season. Here is a link to the Augusta Chronicle Article about the race!

Hampton Roads Erg Sprints

Head of the Occoquan

Saturday, November 4th:

Our last regatta of the fall season (and the first regatta for the novice!) and the Tribe rowers ended with a bang! All boats did amazingly well, but it was the novice rowers that really took the cake - the novice men's eight got second, the novice women's four also placed second, and the novice women's eight placed seventh. Varsity boats also did a wonderful job, with the varsity women's four placing third amid tough competition, and the men's eight getting second. The varsity women's eight placed eighth, and the varsity men's and alumni fours also did very well. Way to go Tribe! Great season!

Head of the Schuylkill

Saturday, October 28th ... or it would have been:

Alas! We got rained out, and the regatta was cancelled due to the bad weather. But, we have been training hard, and are looking forward to racing at the Head of the Occoquan!

Head of the Charles

Saturday, October 21st:

This regatta is the largest two day regatta in the world, held on the Charles river in Boston, and W&M rowers again did very well. Only the varsity men's and women's fours competed, though a good chunk of the team came up to cheer them on. Both boats placed well, with the women earning ninth out of 23 boats, earning a time of 21:33; and the men coming in tenth out of 28 boats, with a time of 19:09. Great job guys! Occoquan Chase

Sunday, October 15th:

Our first regatta of the year, and Tribe rowing has started it off with a bang! Only varsity level boats participated, however there were many novice who also came along to cheer, and their support was much appreciated, and apparantly helped tremendously, as all boats did well. The highlight of the regatta was the Varsity Women's four winning their event, and becoming 'Champion of the Chase'.
