ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA

Now entering its 80th season, the William & Mary Symphony Orchestra is comprised of undergraduate, graduate and community musicians of the College of William & Mary. Its mission is to perform a wide-range of music at a high artistic standard and contribute to the artistic community of the College, Williamsburg and beyond.

In recent years, WMSO has performed major works by Beethoven, Berlioz, Brahms, Dvorak, Mahler, Bartok, Ravel and Tchaikovsky, and has also collaborated with the William & Mary choral ensembles. In 2002 the orchestra took its first international tour to Italy and Sicily.

WMSO rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm and performs 4 programs annually, in addition to appearing at special events such as the Parents Weekend concert. The orchestra is a one-credit course, MUS E06, and fulfills GER 6 for William & Mary students.

If you are a visitor, member of the William & Mary community, friend or family of the WMSO, we hope to see you at the concerts!
