Raj Buck is a junior majoring in Economics. He wrote his paper, “A Tale of Two Disasters,” after a visit to Gujarat, India, during the summer of 2001, as part of an independent study with Professor Arnaub Basu. He hopes to research Gujarat relief efforts further as a senior thesis. Raj participates in William and Mary’s International Relations Club and enjoys talking about international affairs.

Katherine Gallagher is a senior Government major, Sociology minor at the College of William and Mary. This paper was written for Professor Emile Lester’s political philosophy seminar Religion and Liberal Democracy, Fall 2001. This summer Katherine will move to California to organize public interest campaigns for the State PIRGs. Plans for the future include continued political activism and attending law school.

Jen Keister is a junior from Falls Church, Virginia. She is concentrating in government with a minor in history. Her paper was written for Prof. Baxter’s seminar on Afghanistan. Although she does not yet know what she is doing after college, she is taking suggestions.

Diana Kelly is a senior of the Class of 2002, finishing a double concentration in Government and International Relations-Development. Upon graduation, she will miss friends, bellydancing, and intramural sports here at the College, but not Morton or Swem. Eventually Diana plans on a
career in the foreign service.

Kristi Jamrisko is a senior Government and French concentrator, who also enjoys art and history. She worked as an intern for a Member of Parliament in London two summers ago, and spent my junior year in Montpellier, France. These experiences spurred my interests in British and French political culture. Her paper was an assignment for Professor Alan J. Ward’s seminar on British politics. I would like to thank Professor Ward for his suggestion of research materials; Mr. Paul Flynn MP for sharing his firsthand knowledge of Welsh nationalism; and my parents for their encouragement and interest in what I do.

Jacob Harrison Rooksby is a sophomore government major and Hispanic studies minor at the College. He wrote “Breaking the Shackles of the Past” for Professor Hans Hacker’s American legal processes class last fall and wishes to thank the instructor for his continued friendship and guidance. In his free time, Jacob enjoys golf, backpacking, and creative writing. Jacob made history last summer when he participated in the World’s Largest Drive-Thru Breakfast at the Indiana State Fair. He helped make the burritos.
