Fraternity & Sorority Life
Homepage Intro
In 1776, five students at William & Mary founded Phi Beta Kappa, the first organization to call itself a fraternity. It is only fitting that the university is often called the "Birthplace of the American College Fraternity." Since then, fraternities and sororities have evolved but remain dedicated to similar principles and values, such as scholarship, service, brotherhood/sisterhood and leadership.
Here at William & Mary, the tradition of fraternity remains strong, and our fraternity and sorority community plays an important role on campus and in the community.

How to Join
FSL at William & Mary is about more than letters — it’s about belonging. We bring together students from all walks of life who share a commitment to service, leadership and lifelong learning. Joining means becoming part of something bigger, where your voice and values matter.

Annual Events
FSL events are where friendship and purpose meet. Whether volunteering in the community, celebrating chapter achievements or joining all-Greek traditions, members come together to share experiences that build leadership, connection and pride across campus.

Service & Philanthropy
Each chapter supports meaningful causes through fundraising events and hands-on partnerships with organizations. We raise thousands of dollars and volunteer countless hours each year to support education, health, environmental and social initiatives.
