A Successful Spring Rush

The Chapter is very excited about the Beta Alpha pledge class which should be the largest class ever initiated come April 13th. On February 17th 11 young men took the Pledge during Induction to live up to the ideals of Kappa Delta Rho and exemplify her values. They were: Carry Cooper (S), Doug Campbell (F), Zachary Rocco (F), Tom Trunzo (F), Tyler Convey (F), Chris Fall (S), Mike Vizza (F), Winston Torrance (F), Imad Matini (F), Matthew Tobin (F), and Jarod Partlo (F). Rush Chair Tommy Good did an amazing job this semester, setting up Hookah Nights, Hooters Dinners, and Movie Evenings with our newly purchased projector. Tommy was also aided by our chapter’s first ever Rush Video as well as an energized brotherhood following our Southern Conclave.

Phi Beta Hosts Southern Conclave at the College of William and Mary

The Phi Beta chapter was proud to host this year’s Southern Conclave for Kappa Delta Rho. The Fraternity’s new Executive Director, Joseph Rosenberg was in attendance, along with national representative Dan Brookman and noted alumnus Bob Corrie. Other chapters present included UNC Greensboro, Bucknell University, Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, Virginia Tech (Provincial), Radford University, and Columbia University (special attendance to Southern Conclave). Joe Rosenberg gave some opening remarks concerning the present state of the national organization before introducing the event’s main speaker, Matt Mattson, from Phired Up Productions. Matt discussed with us how to incorporate basic business strategies, what he calls “dynamic recruitment”, into how we rush and was very beneficial to all the chapters. Closing comments were given by Joe Rosenberg again. He struck a chord in the audience by speaking frankly about the national organization’s previous lack of enthusiasm for individual chapter problems. Brother Rosenberg stressed that he was a brother and would always be there for us. He backed this up by giving his personal cell phone number to every chapter president. It was very heartening to hear that Nationals now has our back.
