Patricia Popp named for state award

Patricia A. Popp was a recipient of the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators (NAFEPA) State Leadership Award, representing the State of Virginia. The presentation was made during the 2015 NAFEPA Conference in Washington D.C., in March.

Patricia PoppPopp is the state coordinator of Project Hope-Virginia, Virginia’s Program for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth. William & Mary administers the program for the Virginia Department of Education. Funding is authorized under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act, Title X, Part C of the No Child Left Behind Act (P.L. 107-110).

The purpose of Project HOPE-Virginia is to ensure the enrollment, attendance, and success of homeless children and youth in school.

NAFEPA is a support organization for educators who work with federally-funded programs in their local school districts and in their states. The non-profit organization has been in existence since 1974 and presently has more than 3,000 members from across the nation. The vision of NAFEPA is “Supporting leadership and management of federal education in America's schools.”
