Cindy Glavas has been named as William & Mary’s next director of auxiliary services.

Glavas, who has 20 years of experience in the field of higher education, assumed the role on March 4, 2013. John J. Byxbe, who was serving as the interim director, returned to his role of associate director of auxiliary services.

Glavas reports directly to the vice president for administration and will work with departments across campus to ensure that auxiliary services provide outstanding customer service while maximizing business opportunities for the College that align with its strategic direction. Auxiliary operations at the College include the campus bookstore, dining services, parking and traffic, the Tribe Computer Store, conference services, the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center, Williamsburg Campus Child Care, the Copy Center, the ID office, Learning Odysseys, W&M Express, vending services and licensing.

In her previous role as the associate director of business operations at Old Dominion University, Glavas was responsible for a $27 million dollar budget for housing and residence life.  She worked closely with administration and finance to build the fund balance and to contribute to a maintenance reserve to support a 10-year capital improvement plan for housing facilities.

Prior to joining Old Dominion University, Glavas held various positions within auxiliary services at American University and managed numerous contracted services such as the campus bookstore, dining services, vending services, and licensing management.  She has extensive knowledge in contract negotiation and fulfillment and broad budgetary acumen.

Glavas received her Bachelor of Science and Arts in international business and her Master of Business Administration degrees from American University.
