Hospitals and PERKS

Information about area hospitals is provided below.  You may be worried about going to the hospital for medical care for injuries, for a PERK (physical evidence recovery kit), for STI or pregnancy testing/treatment.  You may be worried that the hospital visit will result in your parents receiving an Explanation of Benefits, indicating that you were treated for sexual assault-related issues.  You may not be ready for your parents to know.  You have options to remain anonymous.

You do not need to give the hospital any information about your health insurance.  You are a crime victim and they will treat you without insurance.  If you get a PERK, the hospital will file with the state for reimbursement for the costs of the PERK.  To learn more, visit W&M's PERK information website.
