Chinese Government Scholarship

Attention all Chinese Majors! The 2012-2013 Chinese Government Scholarship Programme has started its application process.

The Chinese Government Scholarship Program was established by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars. MOE entrusts the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship Program.

All undergraduate Chinese majors are welcome to apply for a one-year general scholarship to study at a university of their choice in China. Additionally, graduating seniors may apply for various Masters and PhD programs at Chinese universities of their choice. There are full scholarships available that cover tuition, room, board, and provide a monthly allowance, while partial scholarships are also available.

William & Mary has an on-campus process for applying for scholarships administered by CSC. Students interested in applying should submit the following documents to The William and Mary Confucius Institute (WMCI) located at 314 Jamestown Road (Rowe House) by Monday, March 26, 2012:

-Official Academic Transcript

-Two letters of recommendation

-Personal statement/Research plan (no less than 800 words)

-Resume

Three finalists will be rank ordered, and their applications will be forwarded to the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC to be sent to CSC headquarters in Beijing. At least one W&M student will be awarded a full scholarship, with the potential for additional awardees contingent on scholarship availability after all applications to CSC are received and leftover capacity is assessed.
