WMCI has participated in the very popular annual ChinaFest organized by he Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) in Richmond since 2013, delighting two to three thousand attendees each year with cultural demonstrations. In addition to ChinaFest, WMCI also collaborates with VMFA in other events and projects to spread the appreciation for Chinese arts. In 2014, VMFA’s special exhibit from the Beijing Palace Museum provided a rare opportunity for Americans to get a glimpse at historic Chinese arts, such as court paintings, bronze ware, imperial furniture, and calligraphy. WMCI organized a trip with the Department of Art and Art History and Chinese Studies Program to enjoy those imperial treasures at the VMFA. Other events and projects WMCI helps VMFA with include the 2014 VMFA Summer Institute for Educators and the development of calligraphy app for the Forbidden City Exhibition.
