William & Mary Student Awarded Confucius Institute Scholarship

Becca Thorpe, 2017 Confucius Institute Scholarship Winner

Becca Thorpe (W&M '17, pictured above) was awarded this year's Confucius Institute Scholarship and will be studying at Peking University on a full ride this upcoming academic year.  Peking University is the highest-ranked school in China and even ranked among US News & World Report's Top 100 Global Universities.  That being said, it is also one of the most highly selective schools in China.  Studying there on a full scholarship is an incredible opportunity and honor.

The Confucius Institute Scholarship itself is sponsored by Chinese Language Council International (Hanban).  WMCI assists students in applying for this prestigious scholarship each year.  In order to qualify for it, students must demonstrate high proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, as well as personal and academic excellence, and  Becca has proven herself to be a shining example of all of these.  WMCI would like to extend a wholehearted congratulations to Becca and wish her the best in all her future endeavors.
