As a Laboratory and Research Technician, Richard Proper performs a variety of duties under the guidance of the Laboratory and Research Manager. These duties include laboratory equipment setup, maintenance, and operation, as well as equipment inventory, sample preparation, and data acquisition using multiple characterization techniques. Richard also trains and supervises personnel using laboratory equipment and performs other duties as required to operate a safe and productive laboratory.
Richard has been a Laboratory and Research Technician for the College of William and Mary since 1996. Richard previously worked in Missile Electronics for the US Navy for 11 years and in Industrial Engineering at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station for 20 years. Richard assists with research assignments within the Applied Research Center and repairs used research equipment on the College of William and Mary campus and at the Applied Research Center.
